Privacy policy
Your privacy, in plain English.
We collect as little as possible, we never sell it, and you can leave any time.
Effective September 29, 2026
If you subscribe by email
We collect your email address, and nothing else is required. We use it only to send you the High Impact News Daily editions and, rarely, an important note about the service.
Our email service, Buttondown, stores the subscriber list and sends the emails for us. Like most email services, it may record basic delivery information, such as whether an email was delivered or opened and which links were clicked. We use that only to see what’s working and to keep the list healthy. Buttondown’s own privacy policy covers how it handles that data.
If you just visit the site
- There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking or analytics tools on this site.
- The site remembers a few small settings in your own browser (the last tab you opened, the impact level you chose and your light, sepia or dark preference) so it looks the same next time. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.
- The site is hosted by GitHub Pages, and its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. As with any website, those services receive your device’s IP address and basic browser details when the page loads, and handle them under their own privacy policies.
- Story links take you to other websites, such as government sites and news outlets. Their own privacy policies apply once you’re there.
What we will never do
- Sell, rent or trade your email address or any information about you.
- Share your information with advertisers or sponsors. If we ever have sponsors, they get no information about our readers except overall numbers, like how many subscribers we have.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you’re off the list.
- Delete your information: email us and we’ll remove your address from our list and ask our email service to delete it too.
- Questions: write to hello@highimpactnewsdaily.com.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we’ll remove the address.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date above. If a change affects how we use your email address, we’ll tell subscribers by email first.
